I consider Juniper Noir a “killer” piece of sculpture. When I show this piece at art fairs, my peers in foundry work cannot believe that it was cast in one piece. All the rules of foundry are broken — sharp square ends, very long thin pieces, a solid base with no shrinkage — all of these are problems that had to be overcome. Through engineering, experimentation, and a lot of luck, I was able to create this design.
